Nar Restaurant NYC
Nar is a premium Turkish restaurant in New York's Flatiron District, a city where Turkish cuisine has long meant little more than kebab/döner. Rooted in modern Turkish cuisine and the spirit of the Mediterranean and Aegean coast, Nar sets out to change that.
Nar means pomegranate in Turkish. The symbol was designed to carry that meaning visually: a stylized pomegranate seed, translucent and layered, its inner structure visible from within, so that something is felt before the meaning is known. The bespoke logotype echoes the fruit in its details; teardrop terminals on the a, c, and r quietly connect type and mark. Once the meaning lands, the identity deepens.
The color palette is built around red tones shared by two sources: the pomegranate and the Turkish flag, expanding into beige and black, with a Mediterranean turquoise as its complement, a nod to the Aegean coast at the heart of the restaurant's identity. A set of category illustrations built through gradient mesh extends the visual language across the menu system, each form carrying the same translucent quality as the symbol. Typography pairs BW Beto Grande with Geist. The system extends to Nar Community and Nar Catering, each with its own mark derived from the parent symbol.
